Friday Night Spotlight: Follette Pottery
You may recall that we caught up with Kent and Libby Follette in Orlando last month at the American Craft Retailers Expo (ACRE). Of course we ordered lots of their terrific pottery; it’s one of the longest-running collections at Brooke Pottery. Please join us tomorrow night as we show off those new arrivals from Follette with a Friday Night Spotlight 6-9pm. We’ll demo the Three Minute Cake Mug’s microwaveable cake recipe for customers. Move over hot chocolate…give us cake! Other shops on Kentucky are also open late on Friday Nights. Be sure to visit the Black Swan Bazaar and Traditions Unlimited, too.
The Follete’s home, studio and showroom are located in the piney hills of North Louisiana. Life revolves around good cooking, entertaining and making wonderful pottery. All Follette Pottery is dishwasher, oven and microwave safe. Baking and serving pieces come with recipes from Kent and Libby, which adds an extra personal touch for gift-giving. Bourbon baked brie, Ruston Peach Cobbler, Ice Cream Bread and Beer Can Chicken…..the list goes on.
Live Music on Thursday Evenings

Brooke Pottery is now open late every Thursday 6-9 pm. Come by after work and shop to the pleasant melodies of Hank’s guitar solos. As always, we offer helpful gift ideas and free gift wrapping.

Artful Time Pieces by David Scherer
New arrivals in the shop this week include six new sculptural clocks by Michigan artist David Scherer. Explosive in color (and sometimes even form) these new artful time pieces are truly wonderful!
Well known for his 3-D paintings, David Scherer works in a variety of mediums and brings an intriguing, distinctive style and vibrancy to all of his art. Scherer attributes his unique direction to the expansion of his cumulative experience of more than 30 years as an artist. His sculptural wall clocks are energetic and complex, yet David modestly states “I am what I am, I do what I do”. And we love it! Shop online for David Scherer clocks at brookepottery.com.

Pi Day Sale This Weekend, March 12-14
Come celebrate the coolest of numbers, pi, and the birthday of one of the world’s most brilliant thinkers, Albert Einstein, with us this weekend. Of course, we all learned in school that pi is the symbol for the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter, and that pi = 3.1415 (and so on). Pi Day is celebrated by people who love numbers (such as former math teacher and Brooke Pottery co-owner Margaret Stephens) on March 14 (3/14, get it?). March 14 is also Albert Einstein’s birthday, and we all know who he is. The universe is just bursting with all kinds of mathematical goodness on March 14! So to celebrate, Brooke Pottery will be serving real pie for the extended weekend – Saturday, March 12, through Monday, March 14! Mmm, pi(e).

More pi-related fabulousness: Get 14% off 3 items or fewer during the Pi Day celebration! (Limited to 3 items, but these will be your 3 most expensive items. Valid in-store only March 12 – March 14. No coupon required.)
When you come Downtown to celebrate Pi Day with us, don’t forget to check out Spring Obsession in Munn Park on Saturday, March 12 (9am-4pm). Spring Obsession is a celebration of garden, art, and music featuring local and regional nurseries, garden vendors, and art for and about the garden.

Sept. 3-Donate School Supplies to Enter our Raku Vase Giveaway
Our sale went great – we had a lot less stuff to pack up, and that made the shop repair process so much easier! Thanks to everyone who helped this week and to all our customers for your patience. The dust has settled and now we have a beautiful, freshly painted ceiling and bright, newly painted walls. The store feels fresh and new. Come on down and see!
This Friday is a great time to come see the improved shop – it’s First Friday 6-9 PM. This month First Friday is all about Back to School. It’s Teacher Appreciation Night at Brooke Pottery. If you’re a teacher, you can register for a drawing to win a basket of teaching supplies and various goodies. For you non-teachers, bring in a new school supply to donate and receive an entry into a drawing for a gorgeous 8″ raku vase by Roundtree Pottery. It’s beautiful! And you’re helping the children. Both drawings happen at 8 PM, but we’re accepting school supply donations all day.
Tonight, we’ll also announce the winner of our kid’s art holiday ornament contest at 7 PM. Whose art will be immortalized on this year’s Brooke Pottery ornament? Come find out!
